Course description

What draws us to old stories, and what can we bring to them that’s new? Participants will discuss and examine a range of fairytales and work on using the stories from our childhood to inspire work for a range of audiences. This workshop will mainly focus on prose (specifically short fiction), but poetry and writing for theatre will also be touched on.

Deirdre Sullivan is the author of the acclaimed fairytale-retelling collection Tangleweed and Brine, and Children of Lir retelling Savage Her Reply, as well as several other books for young people, a short story collection for adults, and a play, Wake.
