Songbook #2: exploring the craft of songwriting in music with host Cathy Davey and Homebeat
9 July 2014 @ 7.30pm - 10.30pm$10
After the mesmerising tunes and great insights from Songbook #1, Homebeat and Cathy Davey are back for more at Songbook #2 – a new series that explores the craft of songwriting in music.
Songwriter and musician Cathy Davey will host the series which will ask songwriters and musicians about their inspirations and talents, how they hone their craft and if writing songs is as cathartic as Lennon and Bowie have led us to believe.
Come On Live Long:
Undoubtedly one of the buzz bands of the last few years on the Irish scene, Come On Live Long built on early promise with the delivery of their stunning debut album Everything Fall in 2013. They have subsequently toured the length and breadth of the country with their own brand of fast-paced, groove-laden alternative rock which sits side by side with loud atmospherics and slow burning electronics.
Pearse McGloughlin & Justin Grounds have been elegantly ploughing their own respective furrows as independent singer songwriters and composers for a number of years. But as their friendship developed into collaborative work Idiot Songs – a collection of chamber pop songs based on the writings of Dostoevsky – was born and received with great aplomb.
Homebeat programme gigs in intimate and unusual venues so we’re only too happy to have them here in the Georgian surroundings of No. 19.
