Cúirt International Festival of Literature’s compelling programme for 2024, curated by its Director, Manuela Moser, features an array of some of the most exciting Irish and international writers. The 39th edition will take place in Galway from Tuesday 23 – Sunday 28 April. Spanning over 50 events, the programme includes poetry, fiction, memoir, non-fiction, masterclasses and workshops, exhibitions, and family events. Programme highlights include two Booker Prize winners, Paul Lynch and John Banville; Galway’s own Rita Ann Higgins; Edel Coffey, Elaine Feeney; Mary Costello alongside Mike McCormack; Paul Murray, Jackie Kay, Sinéad Gleeson, Rafeef Ziadah, Lemn Sissay, Leontia Flynn, and many more.

This year, Cuìirt brings Faber Academy to Galway for the first time in 2024, to deliver aspiring writers and literature enthusiasts an exciting programme of workshops led by experienced authors and editors.

Faber Academy provides writing courses (in London, Newcastle and online), manuscript assessments, and mentoring programmes across a wide range of disciplines including fiction, poetry, and memoir. They ran their first course in 2008, and since then have gone on to see their alumni secure major publication deals, win awards, and begin their writing careers. Their tutors, mentors, and manuscript readers are celebrated, professional authors and editors, and their courses are designed with the help of pedagogical experts – but first and foremost, Faber Academy is a place for people who are passionate about writing to work together.

Writers such as Lucy Caldwell, Rafeef Ziadah, Una Mannion, Richard Skinner, Molly Hennigan, and Daljit Nagra, will provide valuable insights whilst inviting attendees to explore the rich literary traditions of Ireland and the wider world. This series of workshops will cover topics spanning from poetry to non-fiction to cater to a wide range of interests and writers in different stages of their journey.

Speaking about the new partnership, Cúirt Director Manuela Moser says:
“Our partnership with Faber Academy will offer a space for writers to explore new ideas, take creative risks, and experiment with genre and style. Engaging with other writers and receiving feedback and encouragement is a key part of creative development, which is why we’re excited to offer these workshops as a valuable resource for any writer.”
