Vermont based Irish author, Róisín Sorahan, was awarded the 2022 Readers’ Favorite Gold Medal for Inspirational Fiction for her debut novel, Time and the Tree.

The Readers’ Favorite International Book Award Contest featured thousands of contestants from over a dozen countries, ranging from new independent authors to New York Times best-sellers and celebrities.

Vincent Dublado, Readers’ Favorite Reviewer, commended Sorahan’s work, noting that, “Time and the Tree is about the value of wisdom, the sanctity of inner peace, and the mutability of time.”

He continued, “Philosophical but not complicated, its simple and crisp plot can only be described as sublime…Sorahan’s enchanting prose has the ability to touch you in a way that no other story can. It is not exactly a feel-good story, but it is brimming with symbolism and existential undertones that will move you to read it over and over again.”

Outlining details of the annual Book Awards Contest, a spokesperson for Readers’ Favorite explained, “We receive submissions from independent authors, small publishers, and publishing giants such as Random House, HarperCollins and Simon and Schuster, with contestants that range from the first time, self-published author to New York Times bestsellers like J.A. Jance, James Rollins, and #1 best-selling author, Daniel Silva, as well as celebrity authors like Jim Carey (Bruce Almighty), Henry Winkler (Happy Days), and Eriq La Salle (E.R., Coming to America).”

The Readers’ Favorite 2022 Awards Ceremony will be held in Miami, Florida, 19th November, 2022.

About Time and the Tree:

Time and the Tree is a modern fable about the nature of time and the quest for happiness. It’s darkly funny, deceptively simple, and a necessary read for testing times.

In this gripping philosophical novel, an unlikely cast grapple with choices and grope towards self-knowledge in a world where compassion is interwoven with menace. Lyrical, honest and heart-breaking, Time and the Tree confronts readers with a unique perspective on the challenges life presents.

A cross between Samuel Beckett and Aesop’s Fables, this wise and hopeful book is uplifting and unsettling by turns.

“A genre-busting masterpiece, full of pacy storytelling, wry dialogue and philosophical challenge…” –DECLAN KIBERD – Author of Inventing Ireland, Professor Emeritus at the University of Notre Dame, and leading authority on modern Irish literature.
