There’s nothing like a deadline to ‘prompt’ you into writing. So this week, instead of giving you an idea of what to write, I’m offering you a few ideas of where to submit your writing.

Use this list of competitions as a motivator to finish that story/poem/novel – and get submitting!

November 2014:

100 Words, 100 Books – Short Fiction competition – from The Book Show RTE 1, there are 100 books up for grabs for fiction between 100-200 words.

January 2015:

2nd Ó Bhéal Five Words International Poetry Competition – an ongoing weekly competition looking for entries!

The Bristol Poetry Prize. With a January deadline and a £600 first prize at stake, it’s the perfect time to get started

Conville & Walsh Word of Mouth Prize – £1000 and representation up for grabs for novel-length fiction.

March 2015:

CWA Margery Allingham Short Story Comp: it may be a March deadline but there’s no time like the present to begin honing your thriller. And there’s a £1000 prize!

You can keep up to date with writing competitions by checking this page regularly.

Happy writing!
