Irish children’s books publisher Little Island is on a roll with Solo by Gráinne O’Brien winning the Junior Juries Award at the KPMG–Children’s Books Ireland Awards.
These are the most prestigious children’s awards in the country and this prize is voted for by very prestigious people indeed – kids!

Getting this recognition from young readers themselves is so special. And the CBI judges had some very nice words for Gráinne’s book:
“The pace and focus is almost operatic in its impact, enabling the story to authentically encompass big emotional moments while retaining the tension of the storyline.”
Massive congratulations to Gráinne!
And congratulations also to the other winners on the day, including Neil Sharpson whose very funny Don’t Trust Fish! won Book of the Year. It was also great to see a second Irish-published winner in Kevin Moran, whose book with The O’Brien Press won the Éilís Dillon Award for a debut book.
