National Flash Fiction Day takes place Saturday 21st June 2014. For the past two years we’ve hosted Dublin’s flash fiction event, and we’re delighted to be back again this year, proudly presenting FLASH FURY! Join us on Saturday June 21st 3-6pm at Arthur’s Pub to celebrate this exciting and growing literary form, at an event showcasing the best flash fiction writers Dublin has to offer.

We want flash that is powerful and intimate, brief and highly charged. If you have stories of under 500 words you’d like to share with the world at Flash Fury, we want to know! Please submit your work (published or unpublished) to us at bigsmokeflash@gmail.com. Guidelines are available here.

We’re also thrilled to announce the return of our competition, The 99, for stories of exactly 99 words “The 99″ is a word-perfect flash challenge. With only 99 words on the page there are very few places to hide so send us your best. It can be shocking or touching, brutal or heart wrenching – we want flash that moves the reader. Every story entered must be EXACTLY 99 words. No more. No less.

Even if you’re not up for writing something yourself, do come along and join us on the day. Hope to see many of you there! Happy writing, all!

The Big Smoke Team.
