Greetings folks! We’re overrun at the moment with some wonderful groups in our current classes but we had to take a moment to catch our breath and tell you about some of the great new courses on the horizon at Big Smoke.
We have another round of Beginning To Write – our 10 week bread and butter beginners course starting on April 4th, not to mention Beginning To Write Fiction for all you novice storytellers looking to improve your craft, available as a morning or evening class from late April. Not to be outdone, our Intermediate Creative Writing course is also returning in late April for both an early morning and late night run – perfect for the slightly more experienced writer looking for feedback on any works-in-progress from a group of their peers.
We’re also excited to announce that our new Monday night Drop-In classes will be continuing until the end of May! They’ve been a huge success with our students since they started earlier this year. What is the Drop-In class we hear you ask? Well, it’s our weekly hour long intense creative writing session. Each class covers a different aspect of creative writing with writing exercises, discussion and handouts. Class is from 6.30pm to 7.30pm and the fee is €15 per class with no pre-booking required (but they do tend to fill up fast so arrive early to avoid disappointment!) Keep an eyes on our website for the schedule of weekly topics.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we’ve got more fabulous one-day workshops coming up than you can shake a stick at. Honestly, where do we begin? We’ve got everything from how to write commercial fiction to memoir, structuring short stories to flash fiction. And let’s not stop there, we’ve also got poetry and journal writing and children’s and young adult fiction with Factory director Claire Hennessy- we’ve even got writing.ie’s very own Vanessa O’Loughlin doing her wonderful Getting Published workshop! Have a look on our website for the full list and details.
As you can see it really is all happening at Big Smoke Writing Factory in the coming weeks and months (there have even been rumblings about another one of our fabulous writerly events in the not-so-distant future, but hush now – you didn’t hear that from us!)
We look forward to seeing you at the Factory soon.
– The Big Smoke team.
