It was all meant to come to an end this week, but with more than 20,000 unique visitors in 118 different countries, we decided to extend the Poetry Project for another ten weeks. So – there’s ten more videos and ten more poems by Irish artists and poets. What’s not to love?

Well… we also love competitions, and we love prizes too – so for the next ten weeks, you can win every week – with prizes ranging from Poetry Ireland Review subscriptions, to an RHA Friendship, to signed poetry books and magazines. Plus we’re also screening the project so far at the lovely Kinsale Arts Festival – Ireland’s arts festival by the sea.

Kinsale Arts Festival runs July 6 to 14, and to celebrate the screening, which runs throughout, our first competition is to win a Festival Friendship worth €150, plus a pair of tickets to hear poet Leontia Flynn read at this year’s Festival, alongside Matthew Geden, Paul Ó Colmáin and Cal Doyle, in an evening hosted by Adam Wyeth – on Tuesday July 9th.

How do you win? Just email an image inspired by the line The Irish Poem is… (taken from Iggy McGovern‘s poem of the same name), to info@thepoetryproject.ie – by June 30th. The winner will be notified by email.

This week’s poem and video (pictured above) are Theo Dorgan’s Wild Orchids, Wildflowers, with Kinsale-based artist Poppy Hunt’s The Long Lane.

Enjoy – and best of luck with the competition. There’ll be more to come each week, with details on the FREE Poetry Project Monday Emails – so if you’re not already registered to get them, sign up at the top right hand corner of The Poetry Project homepage.

And hope to see you in Kinsale!
