Lee Sheridan’s ‘SOAP: A History of Sweny’s Pharmacy’ explores the remarkable story behind one of Dublin’s most beloved cultural and literary landmarks.
‘SOAP is a history of Sweny’s Pharmacy’ from its inception to the present day. Both harrowing and uplifting, this account contains details and anecdotes about – what may well be – the most interesting shop in the world. The book also contains an extended portrait of its original volunteer, its managing director, PJ Murphy.
“Sheridan has contributed an important chapter to Dublin’s literary and cultural history,” Nathanael O’Reilly, poet and professor
The book was launched in the pharmacy on the 12th of June (just in time for Bloomsday) to a large crowd of Joycean enthusiasts. Copies are available there, The Winding Stair and on luainpress.com.
