There’s a little bit of changeover in the charts today; not at the top, where the number one spot is still securely held by Charlie Mackesy’s The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse, with nearly a thousand sales between this and no. 2: How to be Good With Money by Eoin McKee. Otherwise, though, we’ve got the new Mass Market edition of Grown Ups by the fabulous Marian Keyes; a new one from Linwood Barclay, Find You First; and Dark Blue: The Despair Behind the Glory – My Journey Back From The Edge by Shane Carthy at no. 11.

Elsewhere in the charts, we have a fair few blasts from the past. At no. 15, Atomic Habits by James Clear is perhaps inspiring us to keep going with those new year resolutions as we begin to look forward to spring; The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne is at no. 14, and is one of those books that just seems to keep popping up even after nearly four years; over in the Mass Market Top 10, romance fans are enjoying the second Bridgerton novel by Julia Quinn, The Viscount Who Loved Me, which is rumoured to be in line for adaptation following the huge success of its predecessor, The Duke and I (currently at no. 4 and no. 16 in the Top 20).

This week’s featured book is a new release from Una Mannion, A Crooked Tree, which has had rave reviews (and a fabulous, simply striking cover). Here’s the blurb:

My mother made a snap decision.
How could we know it would change us forever?

‘Brimming with curiosity and wonder.’ Irish Times
‘Lushly atmospheric.’ Daily Mail
‘Thoroughly gripping.’ Lucy Caldwell
‘Brilliant.’ Sara Baume

Rage. That’s the feeling engulfing the car as Ellen’s mother swerves over to the hard-shoulder and orders her daughter out onto the roadside. Ignoring the protests of her other children, she accelerates away, leaving Ellen standing on the gravel verge in her school pinafore and knee socks as the light fades.

What would you do as you watch your little sister getting smaller in the rear view window? How far would you be willing to go to help her? The Gallagher children are going to find out. This moment is the beginning of a summer that will change everything.

And now the charts, with the Top 20 followed by the Top 10 in each category.
