Welcome back to another week in the charts as Autumn begins to make its presence felt! Speaking of Autumn, the tell-tale signs that we’re back at school are in the bestseller charts once again this week, as Of Mice and Men is at no. 12 in the Top 20; a drop on last week’s fifth place – perhaps these are the stragglers with those booklists? 😉

Sally Rooney continues to dominate the charts. As well as holding no. 1 and no. 8 in the Top 20 with Beautiful World, Where Are You? (isn’t that a great title?!), Rooney is also at nos. 7 and 8 in the Mass Market Fiction Top 10 with Conversations With Friends and Normal People, respectively. Another big name hitting the charts this week is Richard Osman, whose follow up to The Thursday Murder Club (spotted at no. 14 in last week’s charts), The Man Who Died Twice, is in at no. 2. Not even close to catching Rooney, who has over 6500 sales in a week, it’s nevertheless an enviable splash after just a couple of days of sales!

This week’s featured book is from one of our favourite authors, Sinéad Moriarty, whose novels always hit the bestseller lists. Moriarty has branched out with her first children’s book, The New Girl, which went straight into the Children’s Top 10 on release and is still at no. 8. And because it’s almost October, we’d recommend stashing this away as a (whisper it) Christmas gift for your teenage bookworms! Here’s the blurb:

At school, Ruby is the odd one out. Although Denise and Clara are her friends, they are each other’s best friend and she is the ‘other’ friend. So when new girl Safa, a refugee who has just arrived in Ireland from Syria, joins the class, she is put sitting beside Ruby. Safa and Ruby realise that their lives are very different. But as they get to know each other they soon discover that they have more in common than they might think.

A timely and heart-warming story of friendship from one of Ireland’s best-loved storytellers.

A story about friendship, hope and courage … I loved it and couldn’t put it down!’ Christy Lefteri, The Beekeeper of Aleppo

And now this week’s Top 20, followed by the Top 10 in each category:
