100 Poems by Seamus Heaney

It’s another great week for fiction in this week’s charts, as all but one of the Top 10 Mass Market Fiction titles are in the Top 20. And the missing book is a brand new release from Sophie Kinsella, Surprise Me, which having been out only a day or two at the time of compiling the charts, definitely has a chance to get higher up next week!

Elsewhere, The President is Missing by President Clinton and James Patterson is still top of the trees, but the gap is narrowing as we can see so many of those Top 10 titles have sales over a thousand. Looking at these big sellers, it seems that holiday reading is on people’s minds: David Walliams, with The World’s Worst Children 3, Marian Keyes’ latest The Break, and The Rooster Bar by John Grisham are all doing very well, all absorbing and entertaining reads for their various target audiences!

Our featured book this week, though, is a very different pace. Seamus Heaney’s poems have never been curated into an accessible volume for all readers, until now, with the release of 100 Poems. Brand new out, and straight into the top 10 after only a couple of days, this looks set to be an enduring collection which should be popular with those wishing to discover Heaney’s poetry for the first time, or long-time poetry lovers. Here’s the blurb:

Seamus Heaney had the idea to form a personal selection of poems from across the entire arc of his writing life, small yet comprehensive enough to serve as an introduction for all comers. He never managed to do this himself, and no other edition exists which has such a broad range, drawing from first to last of his prize-winning collections. But now, finally, the project has been returned to, resulting in an intimate gathering of poems chosen and introduced by the Heaney family. In 100 Poems, readers will enjoy the most loved and celebrated poems, as well as discovering new favourites. It is a singular and welcoming anthology, reaching out far and wide, now and for years to come.

And now the charts, starting as usual with the Top 20, and finishing up another baking hot week with the sizzling Top 10 in each category:
