From a Low and Quiet Sea by Donal Ryan, longlisted for the Man Booker 2018

There are no new big-hitters in the Top 20 this week, as the unbeatable duo of Eleanor Oliphant and The Tattooist of Auschwitz continue to dominate the charts, with Heather Morris’ Tattooist taking its turn at the top with Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine very close behind, and the wonderful Seamus Heaney’s 100 Poems in third. Last week’s featured book, Claudia Carroll’s The Secrets of Primrose Square, is well in the Top 10, with Notes to Self by Emilie Pine just out, at no. 11.

Drill down into the Top 10 in each category, though, and there are a couple of new entries, especially in Original Fiction. It’s great to see Shari Lapena back with another thriller, An Unwanted Guest, and she’s straight into no. 7 in the Original Fiction chart. We also have a new release from J. P. Delaney, the pesudonymic author of The Girl Before and The Perfect Wife, who is back with Believe Me, going into no. 8.

This week’s featured book though has been out for several weeks already, and its author was one of three Irish authors longlisted for this year’s Man Booker Prize. We love Donal Ryan’s books, not least for their beautiful covers, and it’s a pleasure to feature From A Low And Quiet Sea again – fingers crossed for the shortlist! Here’s the blurb:

LONGLISTED FOR THE MAN BOOKER PRIZE 2018

‘An engrossing, unpredictable, beautifully crafted novel’ RODDY DOYLE

Farouk’s country has been torn apart by war.

Lampy’s heart has been laid waste by Chloe.

John’s past torments him as he nears his end.

The refugee. The dreamer. The penitent. From war-torn Syria to small-town Ireland, three men, scarred by all they have loved and lost, are searching for some version of home. Each is drawn towards a powerful reckoning, one that will bring them together in the most unexpected of ways.

And now back to this week’s charts, with the Top 20 followed by the Top 10 in each category:
