Kindfulness by Padraig Morain

This week kicks off with the re-release from Headline of the much-missed Emma Hannigan’s last book Letters to my Daughters. Emma’s campaign that she began shortly before she died, raising money from the sales of her book for Breast Cancer Ireland, surpassed its target, and we’re very happy to see Letters to my Daughters not only being re-released but going straight back into both the Top 20 and the Mass Market Fiction Top 10.

In other new releases, we’ve also got a new novel from bestselling author Roisin Meaney who returns to the shelves and the charts with The Anniversary, which again has gone into both the Top 20 and the Top 10 for Original Fiction. Other new entries to the charts include the surprising return of Gabor Maté MD, recently honoured in Canada with admission to the Order of Canada, with books from 2006 and 2012 respectively: Hold on to your kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers and When the Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress returning to the Top 10 Paperback Non-Fiction.

This week’s featured book is a brand-new release from psychotherapist Padraig O’Morain: Kindfulness: Be a true friend to yourself – with mindful self-compassion. This fascinating-looking book is straight into the Top Ten Paperback Non-Fiction, which incidentally is still headed by Dr Harry Barry with Emotional Resilience – perhaps these could be a good pair for anyone looking for books to help them out of a bad spell? Here’s the blurb for O’Morain’s newest release:

The Irish Times top 10 bestseller.

Do you criticise yourself on a daily basis? Are you always comparing yourself to others? Kindfulness is there for you. This practical, uplifting guide combines the two hot topics of the moment: mindfulness and self-compassion.

From the author of Mindfulness on the Go and Mindfulness for Worriers, this book teaches you how to make mindfulness your ally in everyday life, ways to accept who you are and how to lower anxiety and stress levels through a range of simple exercises. In today’s chaotic world, it seems that everyone could benefit from joining the kindfulness movement.

Psychotherapist Padraig O’Morain believes that through the art of self-care and ensuring that you are living in the present, you can dispel the negativity in your life. As a result of loving and accepting yourself a little bit more, you will improve your relationships with others and become a more compassionate and happier human being.

‘Psychologists agree that there are many real benefits – kindfulness can reduce depression and anxiety, improve relationships and leave you able to pursue your goals.’ – Stella Magazine, The Telegraph

‘Being kind to yourself is therapy for the soul.’ – The Independent

And now here are the charts, with the Top 20 followed by the Top 10 in each category:
