Spring is peeping over the horizon, and with it a whole crop of new releases. Not much movement in the Top 20, but if you look at the Top 10 in each category those new releases are all having an impact, particularly noteworthy as most of these came out only a couple of days before the charts were compiled. In fiction, we have a new paperback edition of Still Me from the endearingly popular series from JoJo Moyes; a new title from Sophie Kinsella just popping up into the Original Fiction chart, I Owe You One; and a new crime novel from Jane Harper, The Lost Man, which is receiving rave reviews.

Hardback Non-Fiction has two titles at nos. 3 and 4: The Border by Diarmaid Ferriter is a timely look at the ‘a century of Anglo-Irish politics’ and the tensions around the border in these turbulent times.

At no. 4 is this week’s featured book. Seven Signs of Life is a new release in the increasingly popular genre of ‘behind-the-scenes at the hospital’, this time from an intensive care doctor, and it will be surprising if it doesn’t climb quite a bit higher. Here’s some more info:

‘Heartfelt, honest, illuminating and wise – a wonderful book that I would urge everyone to read’ Julia Samuel, author of GRIEF WORKS

Grief. Anger. Joy. Fear. Distraction. Disgust. Hope. All emotions we expect to encounter over our lifetime.

But what if this was every day? And what if your ability to manage them was the difference between life and death?

For a doctor in Intensive Care this is part of the job. Fear in the eyes of a terminally ill patient who pleads with you to not let them die. Grief when you make a potentially fatal mistake. Disgust at caring for a convicted rapist. But there are also moments of joy, like the rare bright spots of lucidity for a dementia patient, or when the ward unexpectedly breaks into song.

Dr Aoife Abbey shows us what a doctor sees of humanity as it comes through the revolving door of the hospital and takes us beyond a purely medical perspective. Told through seven emotions, Seven Signs of Life is about what it means to be alive and how it feels to care for a living.

And now on to the charts, with the Top 20 followed by the Top 10 in each category:
