Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball is the first book in a six book series. Amelia Fang is a very friendly vampire who has just turned ten. She lives in Nocturnia in the Kingdom of the Dark, a place where darkness reigns supreme, glitter is horrifying, and unicorns seem extremely frightening.

Amelia has two great friends called Florence and Grimaldi. Don’t ever call Florence a beast, because she is a rare breed of Yeti!

In Nocturnia they all sleep in the day and are awake in the night. Amelia goes to a school for monsters called Combat Academy. Their teacher is a skeleton called Miss Inspine.

In book one, Amelia hates the idea of going to her Mom and Dad’s Barbaric Ball, but this year the King and Prince Tangine are going. Before the ball, the prince comes for dinner in her house and takes her pet pumpkin. This sends Amelia on a rescue mission determined to get her pumpkin back!

I really liked this book for lots of reasons. Firstly, Amelia Fang is a very nice vampire. Also, I liked the funny things that Florence the Yeti says. The book is full of unexpected moments, including when Grimaldi tries to be brave. You will have to read the book to find out what happens!

The Amelia Fang Books are available online and in all good bookstores.

I would rate this book five stars out of five!! When I finished it, I couldn’t wait to read the next book, Amelia Fang and the Unicorn Lords.
