Vendetta is a thrilling and heart stopping YA novel the likes of which I’ve never read before.
An intense crime thriller with dynamic characters and brilliant dialogue. Vendetta brings drama and realism to a dark story of revenge, drugs, old grudges and passion. The story gives no limit to its beautiful characters, and creates very clever and real relationships. There really are no clear good or bad guys giving this book so much more depth and realism. Vendetta will make you think hard, and will make you put it down for a few seconds, just proscessing what exactly just happened, before you pick it up again and continue finding your way through the chaos that is Vendetta. It will leave you questioning everything you thought you know about the characters and you just won’t be able to stop reading.
Reading the back you could mistake this for a cliché modern Romeo and Juliet, but there is so much more at the core. The main protagonist Sophie is no sappy Juliet and Nic is definitely no Romeo. All the characters have something to hide, and all of them show so much real emotion, reading the book you just think; ‘What would I do in that situation?’ Which is just one if the reasons I love this book so much.
