New Digital First Imprint from HarperFiction: Killer Reads | Resources | Submission Opportunities

HarperFiction is delighted to announce a brand new digital-first crime and thriller list, Killer Reads. To launch the imprint they will be opening their doors to un-agented submissions of crime and thriller novels initially for a limited period from 29th August to 14th September.

Killer Reads is looking for a wide range of submissions from across the genre, ranging from police procedurals to psychological thrillers, to high-concept thrillers and beyond. The selected manuscripts will be the first titles to be published on the list. From 29th August writers can submit their full manuscript, a synopsis of their novel and an author biography, by emailing:

Sarah Hodgson, Deputy Publishing Director says: ‘This is a hugely exciting opportunity for us to discover emerging talent in the crime and thriller area and bring their work to readers hungry for new stories.’

HarperFiction the timing is perfect to introduce a new digital crime thriller brand. The growth of eReaders and e-books have created an exciting new opportunity that allows them to begin increasing the number and diversity of our fiction list. And they’re keen to project fans of the genre with the best ebooks possible.

The digital list will offer similar benefits to authors as the print list. Authors will receive the benefit of editorial advice from experienced editors, and their e-books will benefit from our proven, strong relationships with all e-book channels and online retailers. Authors will also benefit from KillerReads’ strong presence and connections within the UK crime and thriller community.

KillerReads will not pay an advance on digital first titles but offers  authors 25% royalties from the first book sold. After an eBook sells 10,000 net copies,  authors’ royalty rate will then rise to 50%.
