époque press is an independent publisher based in Brighton and Cheltenham established to promote new literary talent. Through a combination of our main publishing imprint and our online ezine we aim to bring inspirational and thought provoking work to a wider audience. Our ezine will showcase a combination of the written word and visual art forms, bringing together artists working in different mediums to encourage and inspire new perspectives on specific themes. Our main imprint is seeking out new voices, authors who are producing high-quality literary fiction and who are looking for a partner to help realise their ambitions. Our commitment is to fully consider all submissions on literary merit alone and to provide a personal response.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions for our main imprint

As a new independent publisher we are seeking out new voices representing the best in literary fiction. We are open to both new and established authors working in any genre.

At present we are seeking submissions of novels and collections of short stories. Although we are sure we will miss out on some poetic gems we are not currently looking for poetry collections. If you do have poetry that you wish to get to a wider audience please feel free to submit to our quarterly ezine.

We are only accepting electronic submissions so please email to submissions@epoquepress.com and in the subject header state ‘General Submissions’, the title of your work and your name. The full manuscript of your work should be attached in either MS word or PDF format. The reason we ask for the full manuscript is because if we like what we receive we will want to keep on reading. We also ask that you provide a short synopsis that tells us a little bit about the submitted work. This can be a separate attachment or within the body of the email. And that’s it. We don’t want to lay down too many rules as rest assured your submission will only be considered on its literary merit.

We pledge to read and respond to all submissions received and therefore we hope you understand it may take a little while to get back to you. If you haven’t heard anything from us after six weeks please feel free to contact us for an update.

Ezine submissions

We are seeking submissions from artists working in a variety of mediums to be published on the époque press online ezine. We are currently open for submissions on the theme of ‘Departures’.

Submissions will need to bring a creative interpretation to the ezine theme to encourage the collective sharing of ideas. Our intention is simply to promote your work to a wider audience – we will not own any of the rights to successful submissions and will be happy at any stage to remove your work from our website upon request. At present we are unable to offer any payment for successful submissions. All submissions will be fully considered and we will respond to them all, whether successful or not. Should you be unsuccessful on any given theme please do not let this stop you from submitting for future themes.

Written word submissions

We are open for submissions of poetry, short stories and short essays of no more than 2000 words per submission and are happy to receive multiple submissions. Please submit your work in an attachment to the email as a MS Word Document. Please accompany your submission with a short bio of no more than 100 words telling us a little bit about yourself and your work. This can be attached as a separate MS Word Document or within the text of the email. Please email submissions@epoquepress.com and in the subject header state ‘ezine submission’, name of theme and your name
