Service description

I am an IACP-accredited counsellor/psychotherapist and my specialist area is Writing Therapy. Writing is often thought of as either a solo pursuit done in private or something undertaken in a group setting, such as a creative writing class. Working with writing in a therapeutic context can marry these two ideas, allowing your writing or experience of it into the therapy space to become a source of collaborative exploration. This might draw on any number of forms, including journaling, free-writing, poetry, prose, lists, letters, dialogues, and word associations.

I have undertaken specialised training in this area through the Metanoia Institute London, Professional Writing Academy and Center for Journal Therapy. I have facilitated or co-facilitated workshops around creative writing and wellbeing at Big Smoke Writing Factory and PCI College, and have also led two creative/reflective writing groups for therapists.

Most recently, I am proud to have become the only Certified Instructor of Kathleen Adams’ Journal to the Self® workshop in Ireland. This is a ’12-hour course on how to keep a journal for personal growth, creative expression and life enrichment,’ which I can offer to both groups and individuals who wish to expand their repertoire of techniques for productive and fulfilling journal-writing.

Engaging with counselling or self-discovery will often be the first step towards bringing hope and change to a difficult situation – with therapeutic writing and journaling, this journey can be aided by drawing on a tool you are already familiar with and passionate about. I am based in Dublin city centre and also provide online sessions to clients in Ireland and the UK. Please visit my website for further information:
