The cultural association Energheia of Matera (Italy), under the patronage of the regional administration of Basilicata (Italy), is proud to announce the literary prize Energheia Ireland.

The prize will be judged by a committee appointed by the organizers. The best three stories will be shortlisted and sent for the jury’s final judgement. The jury will announce the winner in July 2024.

The winner of the prize will be invited to attend the International Creative Writing Course and Final Ceremony in Matera (Italy) held in September 2024. Travel costs and accommodation will be covered by the organization.

The aim of the prize is to bring young writers from Europe together to participate in a multicultural Creative Writing Course, and to give opportunities for young writers to create and be rewarded for creating.


The prize is open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 30.

Entries should be short stories, written in English with a length not exceeding 1750 words (7 pages).

Please submit your short story electronically in PDF or Word format to energheiaireland@gmail.com by 15 May 2024. Please include, in the body of the email, your first and last name, your date of birth, address, phone number, and contact email address.

The organizers reserve the right to make decisions regarding outstanding regulations. A copy of the current announcement can be obtained from the address above.
