Competition Deadline: 13th May 2020

Due to the current health emergency as related to COVID-19, we were sorry to announce the cancellation of the Belfast Book Festival but we pleased to advise that we will continue with the Mairtín Crawford Awards for Poetry and Short Story 2020.

Submission Deadline has been extended to midnight on Wednesday 13 May (from 28 April)

Prizes

For the 2020 Awards:

I. The Winner for each Award will receive:

– a Cash Prize of £1,000 (augmented from £500)

– a 3-night stay at the wonderful writing and reading retreat ‘The River Mill’

II. We will add a cash Runner-Up Prize for each Award at a value of £250

The Award Criteria and Submission Process

The Awards are aimed at writers working towards their first full collection of poetry, short stories, or a novel. Both published and unpublished writers are invited to submit between 3-5 poems for the poetry award, and a short story of up to 2,500 words for the short story award, with the only stipulation being that they have not yet published a full collection of poetry, short stories, or a novel.
