We are delighted to confirm that the Amergin Solstice Poetry Gathering, which had to be cancelled for both June 2020 and June 2021, is now rescheduled for the end of October 2021, and rechristened Éigse na Samhna: the Amergin Samhain Poetry Gathering.
It will run from the afternoon of Thursday 28th October to the night of Sunday 31st October, when, weather permitting, we’ll finish off with a Halloween bonfire and open mic.
We’ll have less daylight and sunshine than before, but we will have the same exhilarating mix of readings, workshops, open mic, talks and music as before, and we will have largely the same programme as was planned initially for June 2020.
With a broad but not prescriptive theme of Migration and Identity, we will have readings from the following poets: Gillian Clarke, Pat Boran, Eva Bourke, Paul Casey, Polina Cosgrave, Paddy Bushe, Jackie Gorman, Keith Payne, Seán Sugrue, John McAuliffe, Aifric Mac Aodha, Mary O’Donnell, Mark Roper, Garbriel Rosenstock, John W. Sexton, Peter Sirr, Gerard Smyth, Enda Wyley, Nidhi Zak/Aria Eipe, Mary Noonan, Martín Veiga as well as one or two yet to be confirmed.
Workshops available with Enda Wyley, Peter Sirr, John W. Sexton, Gabriel Rosenstock and Keith Payne – from capturing the moment to writing the psyche to translating poetry – there’s something for everyone. All workshops run 9.15 – 11.15 am, 29th – 31st October. Limited to 12 people. Fee €60. Enrol in one of our workshops and get a festival ticket to cover all festival events at a 50% reduction.
