Event description

Two bestselling authors, Martina Devlin and Sinéad Crowley, in conversation on writing historical fiction and world building. This event will be hosted by the wonderful Hodges Figgis, Ireland’s oldest bookshop. An event for readers, writers, lovers of history and all those of the creative persuasion – not to be missed!

Martina Devlin has written 11 books and two plays and is an award-winning journalist. She has won a VS Pritchett Prize from the Royal Society of Literature and a Hennessy Literary Award. Martina presents the City of Books podcast for Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and is the first holder of a PhD in literary practice from Trinity College Dublin where she has taught Irish literature.

Sinéad Crowley is an Irish journalist and novelist. She is Arts and Media Correspondent for RTÉ News and is a lecturer in journalism at Dublin City University. Her latest book is The Belladonna Maze.
