Lockdown three has me in a fog. A thick story sucking fog. I’ve spent most of my time either trying to keep my small business going online, long walks and way too much procrastination. I’m blocked, there are no two ways about it. Lockdown one was a different story and I wonder is there anyone out there feeling the same lack of creative spark this time around. I got some really great stuff done when this pandemic hit last year, despite the stress of having to close my shop in Dublin in the midst of one of the scariest scenarios in living memory. Daily trips to the shop were coupled with wiping down and disinfecting groceries (even fruit!) although this time around I’ve given up that particular level of cleanliness. I just don’t have it in me anymore. Does anyone? I wrote a manuscript last year that I was really proud of, something that has been hidden under the bed like so many others. I might take it out when I’m ready for it, but I know it’s not ready, and that’s half the battle. Even trying to promote my self-published sci-fi novel I published before Christmas 2020 has sort of lingered in interstellar dark matter. I made a conscious effort this week to dust off my marketing hat and try drum up some readers by giving it away for free for a week. Something I do with all my books at least once a year to get more eyes to delve in and give them a try but this year has been different. This strange fog has descended over everything with uncertainty and worry its bedfellow. I know there’s light at the end of this tunnel, of course there is. I guess I’m writing this to myself right now. To make sure that my fingers are still able to type and I know by the word count that there might be a glimmer of adventure still in these fingers yet.
In case you’d like a lockdown read my book Forgotten Star is Free on Kindle Feb 7th
