Bio

Toni-Ann Daly is a writer from the hours of 5:30 am to 7:00 am, a marketing consultant from the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, and a wife and mother in the remaining hours in the day. She originally hails from Ardsley, New York, and currently resides in the riverside town of Enniscorthy, County Wexford. She moved from Los Angeles to Ireland in 2022 with her wife, Jennifer, son, Griffin, and dog, Paddy, and now live around the corner from her in-laws, who are delightfully normal and incredibly lovely. She is amazed regularly at the quality of the food in Ireland, will try her hand at anything and is eagerly awaiting her Irish citizenship. Toni-Ann started writing seriously when she progressed in her job and the work became more focused on business and less focused on art. “Brave Bellow and His Secret” is her first attempt at publishing her writing and she is thrilled to be on this journey.

“Brave Bellow and His Secret” is a children’s picture book that tells the tale of Bellow, a fearsome pirate who commands his ship across the vast oceans, engaging in adventures from burying treasures in the Indies to dining on lobster in the Maldives. Despite his formidable reputation and victories in countless duels, Bellow harbors a deep, personal fear: he is terrified of water.

The narrative reaches its peak when Bellow’s ship gets stuck on a sandbar near Boston. As his crew attempts to push the ship free, they realize they need Bellow’s help. Faced with no other choice, Bellow confesses his fear in a moment of panic. His admission initially leads to mockery from his crew, but an accidental tumble into the shallow waters turns into a transformative experience for Bellow. Confronting his fear directly, he discovers that the water—and his fear—isn’t as terrifying as he imagined. This incident not only helps him overcome his fear but also strengthens his leadership, as he gains newfound respect from his crew for his bravery in both sharing and facing his fears.

Emboldened by his experience, Bellow resumes his pirate ways with renewed vigor and confidence, no longer held back by his fear of water. The story ends with Bellow leading his crew to new adventures, proving that facing one’s fears can lead to unexpected growth and strength. This delightful story, filled with rhythm and rhyme, teaches young readers about courage, vulnerability, and the importance of confronting personal fears.
