About this organisation

Established in 1970, Publishing Ireland is a membership organisation representing book publishers from throughout Ireland.

Our members are at the heart of our mission and Publishing Ireland’s aim is to share expertise, resources and opportunities to foster excellence in Irish publishing. Publishing Ireland now has a membership of over 40 publishers and is governed by a board of representatives from the membership.

We offer an extensive training schedule each year, including courses offering a combination of skills development and broader topics such as rights sales and contracts. These sessions are available to members and non-members, and are currently being conducted online. Visit our Training & Events page for further information: https://www.publishingireland.com/?post_type=tribe_events

Publishing Ireland also represents the industry’s interests to Government and other bodies as well as at the Federation of European Publishers (FEP) and the International Publishers Associations (IPA).

We are a member of Words Ireland, working collaboratively with other Irish literary organisations on a range of activity and events, and we established Dublin Book Festival in 2006, an annual event which supports and showcases the best of Irish publishing. Publishing Ireland is funded through membership fees and support and specific project funding from the Arts Council.

Publishing Ireland is funded through membership fees with support and specific project funding from the Irish Copyright Licensing Agency (ICLA), the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the Arts Council and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
