Think Twice by Sarah Mlynowski

I am going to go on a long rant about this yet I don’t know how I can put into words how much I loved these two books. I was obsessed with Don’t Even Think About It when it first came out, and as soon as I saw the cover of the sequel Think Twice, I think now almost two years later, I knew that I had to read it. Right then and there. School could wait.

Around two hours later I had it finished and let me tell you, I think I literally screamed at the ending. This book made me actually scream. Luckily I was in the car and no one heard me, but still.
This series even with only two books, made me remember how much I love reading.

I don’t even know how I am so in love with them. Maybe it’s the relatable writing, with characters who actually act like real teenagers nowadays, it could be that it is so amazingly different to all the horrible, cliche young adult books that are nearly all exactly the same or maybe it’s just because the plot is so new and refreshing and you have absolutely no idea where it’s going to go and the ending just tears you to pieces because ‘how did I not see that coming??!!!’

First let’s talk about the plot, continuing the story from the first book, Think Twice follows a group of teenagers who got telepathy from a flu shot.

This is set a while later where they have become minor celebrities and use their abilities for different things. Just as a side note, I really like how at the start, it lists the different ‘espies,’saying their name, a little summery of them and if they’re dating someone. Since there are around 20 kids in the book and they all have very diverse and interesting characters, it can be hard to keep track, especially when they are randomly brought in throughout the book. It’s also very helpful if you’ve forgotten or just haven’t read the first book, which you definitely should!

Anyways, the basic plot is that the teenagers start losing their ESP, one by one and now they are desperately trying to figure out why and how to stop it. Seems pretty basic, but wow that is an understatement.
There is a lot of relationship drama, which is actually very realistic and entertaining, but would would you expect if your partner could read your mind?

The characters are so different from each other, they all have different ways of speaking, different personalities and also they can read each other’s mind.

I definitely could not pick a favourite, but I especially love Pi, just because of her character development and I wish I didn’t but I love Olivia because I can relate to her so much. Jordana and Courtney are very fun to read about, being the divas that they are and I also really like BJ and Tess’s relationship because I feel like they just work together and everyone reading wants to root for them too.

There is one last character that I so desperately want to talk about as they are technically the main protagonist but I can’t say who they are because spoilers.

Through the book, everything is referred to as ‘we’ and all through reading it I had no idea who it was. It is the most irritating thing in both of the books and the reason I screamed at the end because it was so obvious and I just!! I’m sorry. It was very emotional for me.

This is now my favourite book and it will probably take a long while for something to top it.

I cannot recommend it enough, just everyone of every age and gender, read this book. Wait not every age, I’m sorry. There are inappropriate references and sexual scenes in the book, but everyone over 15 should definitely read this book, but you have been warned!

I also really recommend the first one too, but if you can’t find it, that’s fine, just read this book!!!
Okay now I’m done my rant. Thank you.
