Ellie, Just A Little Eggstra: A Special Day for The Easter Chick (Ellie The Chick Book 10). A Heartfelt Easter Tale That Celebrates Joy, Family, and the Beauty of Being a Little ‘Eggstra”.

On the surface, it’s a festive Easter tale about Ellie, the ever-cheerful little chick, who’s buzzing with excitement over the day’s celebration. There’s a church visit, a colorful parade, and a magical hot air balloon ride that caps off the adventure. But what makes this book worth revisiting is the cute activities and the heart behind it all.

This story gently introduces young children to the idea that holidays are more than just decorations and chocolate. Through Ellie’s wide-eyed enthusiasm and her loving interactions with friends and family, the book naturally emphasizes connection, gratitude, and being present in the moment.

As we read it together, my toddler was drawn to the colorful scenes and cheerful tone, but it also opened up soft, unexpected conversations about why we gather, why we share special days, and how joy often comes from being with people we love.

Just A Little Eggstra

There’s a quiet little lesson tucked between the pages, too: that it’s okay to get excited, to be “a little eggstra” sometimes, and to share that excitement in a kind and generous way.

That’s an idea toddlers can relate to– and a great opportunity for parents to reinforce emotions and behavior in a gentle, story-driven way.

Reading it together gave us a chance to slow down and talk, not just about Easter, but also about what it means to celebrate anything meaningfully.

And from a practical side, the rhythm of the language and the cozy illustrations make it a calming bedtime or storytime read, especially for younger kids who are still learning how to follow a narrative.

I think Ellie, Just A Little Eggstra is tender, cheerful, and just the right amount of fun. It reminded both of us that the best parts of any holiday aren’t the surprises or the treats, but the people you spend them with and maybe the view from a hot air balloon if you’re lucky.
